Day 4

Got up early this morning for Yoga X. This is without a doubt the most difficult workout for me. I am not very flexible and with the gut I have it is really hard to do a lot of the postures. I still enjoy this workout but it's a harsh reality of how bad of shape I am in. It can only get better, LOL. Another thing that sucks about this workout is it lasts 90 minutes! Anyway, I ended up burning 1129 calories during this workout!

Nutrition again was spot on, within 100 calories of my goal. Hitting it hard again tomorrow.

Day 3

Tonight was Shoulders and Arms. I actually did pretty good on this workout. I was completely winded, cardio-wise during the day 1 Chest and Back workout. I couldn't seem to catch my breathe. During this workout I was able to keep up the pace on 90% of the exercises. I had an idea on how much weight I should be able to lift for each exercise based on the first round of P90X. I made the mistake of not having my other plates readily available to swap out and I paid the price for it. I am in the hunt for a set of quick-change dumbells, just can't justify 300+ for a set, although I know they'll make my workouts 10 times easier to get the right weight dialed in. I actually felt pretty strong doing most of the curls. Probably my weakest exercises are the flys. My elbows are achy from the push-ups from day one.

Ab Ripper X kicked my ass as it always does. I was able to get through more of it this time and just like my first go-round, a few weeks in I intend to be able to do most of the exercises.

I've made the decision to do the workouts without pausing, unlike my first go-round. I'd pause and catch up to the video and then press play. The main problem with this is the workouts ended up being an hour & forty minutes to two hours long. And with me already having issues getting enough rest, I've decided to do my best without stopping. Having been here before I know, the exercises will get easier as I get stronger. Then it's up to me to up the weight and bring the intensity. Tonights workout burned 1067 calories! Stoked!

Nutrition was almost spot on I came within 60 calories of my daily intake goal. Eating was much better/easier today than yesterday. It's funny when people see you eating healthy after being used to seeing you eat fast food all the time they get all interested in your diet. Everyone seems to be nutritionists, LOL. I'm sticking to the P90X Portion plan as closely as possible, it worked well for me last time.

Time for bed,

Day 2

Day 2 was Plyometrics (Plyo-X) It is hardcore cardio jump training and very challenging. It is every bit as challenging as it was 2 years ago and more with the added 2 years of age on my body. It is still a very fun and gratifying workout. Probably tied for second with the Yoga-X workout.

The workout took an hour and I burned 934 calories. Probably even more since my heart rate monitor was wigging at the beginning of the workout. There is definitely tons of room for improvement. My feet were burning during a lot of the twisting exercises. I have low arches and not sure if it's my shoes or just my feet but they were burning much more than my 1st go round with P90X. May need to invest in new shoes along with a new battery for my heart rate monitor.

My nutrition was pretty much spot on today. I feel like I am eating all the time, weird thing is I feel like I am always hungry. I am eating a lot, but it's all healthy. Oddly enough I don't really have any cravings for Diet Coke or unhealthy snacks. Granted it's only day 2 but here's to hoping the cravings stay away. I am drinking tons of water too. About 3 liters a day!

The soreness from yesterday (chest and back) really started kicking in towards the end of the day. I missed that soreness and look forward to it everyday. I thought the eating would be the biggest challenge but I am finding that sufficient sleep is going to be challenging. When you workout strenuously you body needs rest and I haven't been able to settle into better sleep habits yet. Just another challenge to work on. I know it's not going to be easy and that it's definitely going to be worth it.

Day 1

After almost 2 years from my original foray into the P90X workouts, I am starting again. Tonight was my first night back. Chest and Back. Kicked my ass just like last time. I had to pause several times to get through the workout which extended the workout time to wayyy too long. I ended up just running through the Ab Ripper X workout nonstop, and did my best to keep up but it was a sad state of affairs.

Nutrition was good today. I fell short of the target calorie count but overall it was a good first day. I need to find ways to spice up the portion approach. I think this will be key to keeping the nutrition on track. Hoping the soreness will keep me motivated! Trying to get back to sexy.
